Weight and dimension limited barge for crossing Kyle of Durness. Being able to drive on and off the barge and then transit the road to access point. Accessing site over a mix of soft grassland, heather and rock. Lift the generator and fuel cube over the gabion wall and into position within the sheltered compound.

Transport of 1000ltrs of fuel and 20Kva generator from Inverness to radio mast situated above Cape wrath lighthouse.

Objective

Transport all required equipment to Durness, for onward transport across the kyle of Durness, 11 miles out to capewrath on hill road and then offroad to the top of the hill and the mast site.


Once at the mast site lift the generator and fuel cube over the gabion protection wall.

Solution

1

Transport atv, atv trailer and equipment to Durness on our hiab lorry.

Transport softrack c/w hiab to durness.


Offload lorry using hiab and load empty bunded tank onto rear of can am 6x6 and secure and load steel fuel cube onto ATV trailer. Transfer fuel between two tanks.

Drive softtrak and atv to slip away and make ready to board. 


Reverse load both machines to barge and transit Kyle.


Offload and start journey to Cape. Wrath.

Arrive at access point, park machines and walk to mast checking route. 


Drive machines to site and install across the gabion walls.


Demob from site and return to ferry.
